A Historic Family Reunion

A Platinum Member stayed at the Hotel Maison Rouge Strasbourg in May 2022, on a genealogy trip. He is an American citizen and was able to track that his ancestors came from a small town named Keffenach , in Alsace, France, from where they immigrated to the USA in 1721.

By visiting his village of origin, he was able to see his family name at the local cemetery, yet he was unable to find anyone from his family tree to be still alive. Julien, the hotel Concierge found his story both inspiring and unachieved, and with the help of a local volunteer genealogist, he was able to trace the French branch of his family tree to the present descendants and found a distant relative.

After connecting the two, the guest and his distant relative had a chance to meet up during that trip in Alsace and have been in regular contact since. The distant cousin even visited the US, where they attended the regional genealogy society meeting to share their story.
